At Accentra Credit Union, we take fraud seriously. As a result, our system reviews all ATM, debit, and credit card transactions for potentially fraudulent activity, 247/7, 365.

Risk factors may include:

  • a sudden change in the location in which the card is being used (such as your credit card used in another state or country)
  • a sudden string of costly purchases that are inconsistent with your spending habits
  • any pattern associated with new fraud trends as they emerge

What We Do

If we suspect fraudulent card use, we’ll call you to validate the legitimacy of your transactions. We appreciate your keeping contact numbers up-to-date, so we canproperly protect your account.

  • Our automated call will ask you to verify recent transaction activity on your card
  • You’ll be able to respond via your touchtone keypad
  • If suspicious activity is detected, we’ll contact you and take the necessary steps to protect your account
  • You’ll also be provided a toll-free number to call should you have additional questions

What We Won't Do

Accentra Credit Union will never call you and ask for your personal account details over the phone. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from Accentra Credit Union, or Accentra’s Fraud Department and asks for such information, we strongly advise you to hang up immediately. Please follow these precautions: 

  1. Verification of Identity: Ask the caller to verify their identity by providing specific information that only your legitimate financial institution would know. This might include details about recent transactions or account history.

  1. Hang Up and Call Back: If you're uncertain about the legitimacy of the call, hang up immediately. Call 1-800-533-0448 or the number on back of your credit/debit card. Do not use the number the caller provides, as it might be part of the scam. The phone number on 

  1. Never Share Personal Information: Legitimate financial institutions will not ask for sensitive information like account numbers, PINs, or passwords over the phone. Avoid sharing such information unless you are certain about the identity of the caller.

  1. Be Skeptical of Urgent Requests: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure you into providing information quickly. If the caller insists on immediate action, be cautious.
